A District Simplified Grant (DSG)
is a tool Rotary districts utilize to support short-term,
humanitarian projects that benefit the community.

We are providing materials to help Club Presidents get their
DSG programs started.
GREAT NEWS! THE DISTRICT IS NOW AUTHORIZED TO SPEND MORE
DOLLARS ON COMMUNITY PROJECTS. APPLY NOW!
Each and every club should submit a request for a Simplified
Grant by October 31st to PDG John Wilson at jmwilson@troycable.net.
The projects should be designed to enhance your community
and
improve
the lives
of the less fortunate. Soon, after the October 31st deadline,
a committee will meet to decide which projects will receive
the grants.
At President-Elect training at Troy University each club
was given an information packet on the Simplified grants.
Last year we only had six projects but they were outstanding.
Rotary Grants enhance your club both in recruiting new members,
as you can point out the worthy projects completed by your
club, as well as encourage members to make donations to the
Rotary Foundation. The Foundation is supplying the money
for the Simplified local community grants through your gifts
to the Foundation in past years.
People make donations to charitable organizations only when
they can see tangible evidence of the need and see how the
money will be spent. In addition to the community Simplified
Grants the District has several International projects for
your consideration. After all we are ROTARY INTERNATIONAL.
In South Africa, a club there that was visited by PDG Stuart
Adendorff, desires to provide literacy training for women
at a cost of $423 per person. The Annual Giving goal to the
Rotary Foundation is $100 per member. If you have 70 members
then you would probably be giving at least $7,000 to the
Foundation, so you could take credit for training 16 women.
In Kenya, a water well and system needs to be constructed
for about $25,000. Your club can provide a portion of this
system. If you are musically inclined, you could help buy
musical instruments for a marching band in Brazil.
Please answer the call to both support your community as
well as your world. The applications, information and criteria
can be found on the district web site at: www.rotary6880.org
Please contact Mark Dierlam or Emily at 334-277-7731 if you
have any questions.
