District Simplified Grants

District Simplified Grants are designed to support the service activities and/or humanitarian endeavors of districts.  A district can request up to 20 percent of its Distrct Designated Funds for a grant that can be used to support multiple projects locally or internationally.

District Goal: To educate 6880 clubs on the District Simplified Grant (DSG) process and get at least 60% of clubs in District 6880 to apply for a District Simplified Grant and to have 100% of the clubs to do a project in their community.

DSG timeline:

  • July 01, 2009 to October 31, 2009:  DSG Applications accepted by the DSG Chair.
  • September 2009:  Copies of the DSG Application and Letter of Explanation distributed.
  • October 31, 2009:  Cut-off date for receipt of DSG applications.
  • November 01, 2009 to December 31, 2009:  DSG Selection Committee to meet and select the DSG's to be awarded.
  • January 02, 2010:  DSG recipient clubs to be notified via mail.
  • January 2010:  DSG checks to be distributed during the Mid-Year Conference.
  • April 30, 2010:  Club Progress Reports due to DSG Chair.
  • June 30, 2008:  ALL clubs DSG's are to be completed and a Final Report sent to the DSG Chair.
  • July 31, 2010:  DSG Chair completes the Final Report for the District DSG, forwards to the District Foundation Chair to sign, then sends to RI with all appropriate documentation needed to close the grant file.

Ideas for projects:

  • Partnering with Boy Scouts to do a community landscaping project
  • Providing dictionaries or books for children who may not receive one through D6880 efforts
  • Honoring veterans in the community.
  • Providing backpacks with weekend meals for needy children.
  • Contributing and assembling Recreation equipment for youth groups.
  • Assembling donated furniture at Women’s Prison day room for visiting children.
  • Providing books for primary school libraries.
  • Providing computers for disadvantaged children and provide instruction.
  • Assembling bikes for economically challenged children.
  • Hosting events for senior citizens or children with special needs.
