Youth Exchange Chair|District 6880

Over the last year, we have worked to get our Youth Exchange program up and running for District 6880. We are now going into year two of our plan.

As we start another Rotary year, the District Youth Service Committee is excited to reference the 2019-2020 RI theme, “Connecting the World.” District 6880 Youth Services Committee is ready to make this happen by rolling out our Youth Exchange program.

To make this successful we need your help. Together, we can connect our high school students with once in a lifetime experiences that allow them to serve as goodwill ambassadors. District 6880 can leave its footprint across the globe!

The foundation to get this started was laid during the summer of 2018 when Gena Richardson and I visited Montana for SCRYE Summer Training. We are now at the point where it is necessary to start collecting information related to interest and ability to participate in the Exchange Program.

SCRYE and RI require that minimum requirements be in place, such as people assigned to various tasks with the Youth Exchange program.

Please consider appointing a Rotarian or group from your Rotary Club’s Youth Service committee to be the point of contact for the Youth Exchange committee. We also need Rotarians to help recruit Host families.

Please consider discussing the following items with your club’s executive board:

  • Appointment of a Youth Exchange contact person or committee
  • Recruitment of Hosting families
  • Identifying public High schools within the area of the hosting families.
  • Becoming a host club or co-host with another club within the district
  • Requirements of Youth Exchange as required by Rotary International
  • Determine a date that the District Youth Exchange team can be a part of your club’s program. Please forward this information to This email address is being protected from spambots. Download the Youth Exchange handbook from MyRotary which will give more information regarding the inbound clubs’ requirements and we would also love to speak at your club to answer any questions or concerns. Training will be provided to your point of contact(s).

The district is currently working on updating the Youth Protection policy which will be available shortly to the district and the potential hosting families. Dana Delk has been appointed as our new Youth Protection Officer.

In closing, the Youth Service committee hopes to have your full support as we move forward with this exciting project.
