Jerry Blacklaw District - Governor Nominee

Jerry BlacklawJerry Blacklaw was born and raised in Little Rock, Ark. He is a graduate of Hendrix College, Conway Ark. (B.A.); Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, Ca. (Masters of Arts); and Columbia Theological Seminary, in Atlanta, Ga. (Doctor of Ministry). He was a youth minister for 10 years and a Contemporary Christian Music Artist, recording 3 albums of his own music, performing around the country, and publishing over twenty-five songs.

He was ordained as a Presbyterian Minister in 1985 and served for twenty-eight years in: Atlanta; Jackson, Ms. (where he was chosen for Leadership Jackson, and was President of Stewpot Ministries); Mobile, Al.; and Gulf Breeze, Fl. (where he was pastor for nineteen years, President of Interfaith Ministries, President of the Gulf Breeze Hospital Chaplains Association, and was named by the Chamber of Commerce as ‘One of the most influential residents in the fifty-year history of Gulf Breeze’); and in Spanish Fort, Al. He retired in May, 2013 and moved to Fairhope in 2015, where he published his first novel – Hot Coffee, Mississippi, on Amazon.com.

Jerry became a Rotarian in 1994, was the club president in 2004 - 2005, has served on Rotary boards in a number of capacities, is a Paul Harris Fellow, and is currently a club member and board member of the Fairhope Club. He will be Rotary District Governor for District 6880 (South Alabama), in 2020/2021.
Jerry enjoys reading; and playing golf, guitar, and piano. He and his wife Cynthia live in Fairhope. They have 3 sons and 3 grandsons.
