Fred and Marge Hahn

Fred was invited into the Family of Rotary in 1973, was President of the Independence, MO Club 1986-87 and DG of D-6070 (now D-6040) in 1992-93.While serving multiple club, district and zone assignments, he participated in NID in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 1997, served as delegate to the COL in 1998, was an Assembly Discussion Leader in 1999 & 2000 and was a Team Leader for a GSE team to Turkey in 2000. Fred has participated with duel assignments as both RIand TRF Zone Coordinators multiple years with particular interest in PolioPlusPartners where he previously served as Vice Chair of the Western US. Other Zone activities include Training Leader multiple times in both Z-5/11 and Z-29/30, the Zone Executive Committee as Arrangements and Program Chair and Chair of the Heart of America Breakfast in Osaka. Fred was a Facilitator at breakout sessions at the International Conventions in Copenhagen and Salt Lake City. He has served as the RI President’s Rep on six occasions and is RI Director Nominee from Z-30/31 for 2009-11. He has been awarded the Four Avenues of Service Award, the RI Service Above Self Award, the International Service Award For a Polio Free World and TRF Meritorious Service Award. Marge and Fred are Major Donors with membership in the Arch Klumph Society and the Bequest Society.Fred retired in 2005 from a 35-year ENT/Head & Neck Surgeon practice in the Kansas City, MO metropolitan area. He received his MD degree from the University of Iowa and his ENT Fellowship from The Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. He is Past President of both his area and the state of Missouri specialty societies as well as of the K.C. Metropolitan Medical Society and the Missouri State Medical Association. He is married to Marge and they have two daughters, Debbie White and Kathy Hahn, and four granddaughters. He served 3 years active and 3 years inactiveduty in the Army with a commission from OCS at Fort Benning, GA. He currently serves on multiple boards including the Kansas City Health Care Foundation, TheTruman Heartland Community Foundation and he is President of the Missouri State Medical Foundation. Fred is multiply published including a book entitled, “The Art of Medicine”. His hobbies include ballroom dancing, singing, private piloting, snow skiing and travel.Marge and Fred have attended every RI Convention since 1985.
