Mission of The Rotary Foundation

The Rotary FoundationThe Rotary Foundation is the backbone of all the charitable work that Rotarians do. Our Foundation has earned a five-star (highest) rating from Charity Navigator, the independent organization that rates non-profits.

The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.

The Rotary Foundation helps fund Rotary’s humanitarian activities, from local service projects to global initiatives. The Foundation leads the charge on worldwide Rotary campaigns of eradicating polio and promoting peace. All other projects start at the club level – that is, each club may apply for Rotary Foundation grants to help support the humanitarian need that concerns them most.

No dues go to support The Rotary Foundation (although some clubs suggest a voluntary contribution on their membership dues notice). Rotarians and friends of Rotary support the Foundation’s work through voluntary contributions at whatever financial level they are most comfortable.

It’s important to remember that the need never ends, and therefore, neither should the giving.
